Fire fighting check valve, also called fire protection non-return valve, is a core automatic safety component specially designed for fire suppression pipeline systems. It only allows one-way flow of fire water and automatically blocks reverse flow without any manual operation, power supply or external control signals, which directly guarantees the stable operation of the whole fire-fighting network in emergency fire scenarios.

Its working principle relies entirely on fluid pressure difference. When fire pumps start up or municipal water supplies deliver water forward, water pressure pushes the built-in sealing element including swing disc, spring disc or rubber ball away from the valve seat, forming a smooth flow channel for water to reach sprinkler risers, fire hydrants and deluge devices. Once pumps shut down, pipeline pressure drops or back pressure generates from high-level pipe sections, reversed water pressure will tightly press the sealing component against the valve seat to achieve full shut-off instantly, thoroughly cutting backflow paths.

This valve adopts high-strength ductile iron cast body with anti-rust red epoxy coating as standard surface treatment, matching fire system corrosion and pressure standards. The internal sealing parts use wear-resistant rubber or stainless steel materials to deliver zero leakage performance under rated working pressure up to 2.5MPa. Main mainstream structures include grooved swing check valve, silent spring check valve and ball type fire check valve, covering pipe diameters from DN50 to DN300 to meet different building pipeline layouts.

It undertakes multiple vital protective tasks in fire systems. First, it prevents backflow water from draining pressure in high-rise vertical risers; without this valve, upper sprinkler pipes will lose water pressure and fail to spray timely during fires. Second, it effectively eases water hammer impact when fire pumps stop abruptly, avoiding pipe cracking, pump impeller damage and joint leakage caused by reverse hydraulic shock. Third, it isolates fire water pipelines from domestic tap water networks to stop contaminated fire water from flowing back into clean municipal water supply, complying with fire protection and water sanitation codes worldwide.

Compared with common industrial check valves, fire fighting versions pass strict fire safety certifications such as UL, FM and national fire standard tests, with stable performance under long-term standby and sudden large-flow impact. Silent spring-loaded models are widely installed at pump outlets, as their spring-assisted rapid closing greatly reduces closing noise and hydraulic surge. Swing grooved types feature large flow capacity and low flow resistance, ideal for main fire trunk lines and outdoor fire hydrant branches.

The installation flexibility is outstanding, supporting both horizontal and vertical pipeline mounting. The internal structure is compact with few vulnerable spare parts, bringing convenient disassembly, cleaning and on-site maintenance. Its wide application range covers all types of fire facilities: sprinkler systems, fire pump outlet pipelines, tank water supply connections, foam fire suppression pipelines, deluge valve front sections and multi-source water supply junction manifolds in shopping malls, high-rise residential buildings, industrial workshops, warehouses and underground parking lots.

Core Advantages

Fully automatic pressure-driven operation, zero delay response for sudden fire emergencies

Anti-corrosion red coating and special sealing materials adapt to long-term standby wet pipeline environment

Efficient suppression of water hammer, protecting fire pumps, pipe fittings and pressure gauges from shock damage

Zero backflow sealing performance avoids system pressure loss and cross water source contamination

Multiple connection modes including grooved, flange and threaded fit various fire pipe construction standards

Simple internal assembly, low failure rate and easy regular inspection without system large-scale shutdown

Typical Application Positions

Outlet of fire centrifugal pumps, bottom of high-rise fire vertical risers, branch pipes of outdoor fire hydrants, front end of deluge and pre-action valves, connecting pipelines between fire water tanks and main pipe networks, separation nodes of fire water and domestic water supply systems.
