Right angle strainer is a 90-degree integrated filtration fitting that combines the functions of an elbow and a pipeline filter in one single unit. Different from inline Y-type, T-type or basket strainers with straight-through flow paths, it changes fluid flow direction by 90 degrees while capturing solid impurities simultaneously, which saves separate elbow and filter installation space and shortens overall pipeline layout length. It is widely adopted in compact equipment rooms, narrow pipe shafts, small-branch industrial pipelines and auxiliary fluid loops where both flow turning and pre-filtration are required.

Its core structure consists of an angle-shaped body with two perpendicular ports, a built-in filter screen cartridge and a detachable end cap for cleaning. Under normal operating conditions, medium flows into the horizontal inlet, turns 90 degrees through the internal filter chamber, and discharges from the vertical outlet or vice versa. All suspended contaminants such as welding slag, rust chips, sand and fine sediment are intercepted and stored inside the mesh element before fluid enters downstream pumps, solenoid valves, pressure gauges and precision instruments. The right-angle flow design concentrates impurity deposits in the independent filter cavity, preventing re-entrainment of particles back into clean fluid flow.

The disassembly design greatly simplifies routine maintenance. A sealed bolted cover is arranged on the outer side of the bend section. When pressure difference rises due to accumulated dirt, operators can unscrew the cover directly, take out the stainless steel screen for flushing, and reinstall it quickly without removing the entire strainer from the connected pipes. No extra cutting or flange separation work is needed, which cuts down maintenance time and avoids unnecessary system shutdown.

Right angle strainers support diversified material configurations to match different working media and pressure standards. Cast iron and ductile iron bodies serve conventional cold and hot water, HVAC circulation and fire protection pipelines. Carbon steel and stainless steel 304/316 versions handle high-temperature steam, fuel oil and mild corrosive chemical liquids. Internal filter screens are woven stainless steel with customizable mesh counts to adjust filtration precision according to particle size. Connection forms mainly include threaded and flange ends, covering small to medium diameters DN15 to DN150, with standard pressure ratings PN10, PN16 and Class 150.

Compared with matching a separate elbow plus an independent strainer, this integrated right angle structure brings multiple practical benefits. It reduces the total number of pipe joints, lowering hidden leakage risks at connection points. The compact integrated shape occupies much less installation space, which is critical for densely arranged equipment and limited underground pipe trenches. It also lowers total procurement and construction costs by eliminating one extra pipe fitting and corresponding sealing gaskets.

This strainer has clear installation guidelines. The flow arrow marked on the body must align with actual medium direction, and the filter cleaning cap should be placed on an accessible side for easy regular inspection. It can be installed horizontally or vertically as long as enough operating space is reserved for screen removal. Thanks to its moderate dirt holding capacity and low flow resistance, it works steadily under continuous circulation without obvious energy loss for conveying equipment.
