Threaded Balancing Valve
Threaded balancing valve is a compact, high-precision hydraulic regulating device widely used for small-bore pipeline balancing in HVAC cooling and heating systems, domestic heating circuits, fan coil units and building auxiliary water circulation networks. Characterized by internal thread connection, this valve is specially designed for compact installation spaces where flange or grooved valves cannot be arranged. It performs accurate static flow regulation, system hydraulic debugging and permanent flow locking functions, ensuring uniform water distribution among parallel branches and eliminating common hydraulic imbalance issues in small-diameter piping systems.
Structurally, the threaded balancing valve adopts an integrated compact body with precision throttling spool, clear opening scale, locking mechanism and dual built-in pressure test ports. The threaded end allows fast and tight screwing connection with standard pipe threads, providing excellent sealing performance without welding, flanges or additional coupling fittings. During system commissioning, engineers adjust the valve opening according to design flow requirements by rotating the handwheel. The calibrated scale indicates the exact opening degree, enabling precise flow setting for each branch loop. Once the optimal flow parameter is achieved, the locking device fixes the spool position to prevent accidental offset caused by pipeline vibration or human operation, maintaining stable hydraulic resistance for long-term system operation.
Equipped with dual pressure measuring taps, the threaded balancing valve supports real-time differential pressure testing during on-site debugging. Technicians can connect a differential pressure gauge to measure pressure drop across the valve, calculate the actual flow rate accurately, and verify whether each branch reaches the designed water volume. This measurable and adjustable feature distinguishes balancing valves from ordinary manual globe valves, which can only throttle without precise flow control. The smooth internal flow passage minimizes flow resistance and avoids unnecessary pressure loss, ensuring efficient and energy-saving system operation.
The valve body is generally manufactured from high-quality ductile iron or brass with epoxy anti-corrosion coating, providing strong resistance against rust, scaling and medium erosion in long-term hot and chilled water circulation. Internal throttling components are made of stainless steel, while sealing parts adopt high-temperature resistant EPDM material to achieve reliable tight shut-off and stable regulating performance. Standard working pressure reaches PN16, covering most civil and commercial HVAC working conditions. Threaded balancing valves are available in small and medium sizes ranging from DN15 to DN50, perfectly matching fan coil units, floor heating manifolds, air conditioning terminal branches and small heating risers.
Compared with flange balancing valves used for large main pipelines, threaded balancing valves feature smaller size, lighter weight and simpler installation process. The threaded connection greatly shortens construction time, reduces pipeline occupation space and lowers overall project cost. Its compact structure is particularly suitable for narrow pipe shafts, concealed piping and dense terminal equipment layouts where large-size valves cannot be installed. After one-time professional debugging and locking, the valve requires no daily adjustment, minimizing later maintenance workload.
In practical engineering, unregulated small-bore branches often cause excessive flow in near-end pipelines and insufficient flow in remote terminals, resulting in uneven indoor temperature, increased pipeline noise and wasted pump energy. Threaded balancing valves effectively solve these problems by accurately distributing flow for each independent loop. By stabilizing system hydraulic balance, they improve heating and cooling comfort, reduce circulating pump load and achieve significant energy-saving effects for building HVAC systems.
Common application scenarios include fan coil unit inlet and outlet pipelines, floor heating branch circuits, small-size heating risers, residential indoor heating systems, commercial building terminal air conditioning loops and auxiliary industrial cooling water pipelines. As essential small-bore hydraulic balancing components, threaded balancing valves are widely recognized for their high precision, convenient installation and stable performance in modern energy-saving building projects.
